چکیده

Introduction The LGE method can visualize post-ablation scar in the LA, using increased spatial resolution (1-2). However, the inversion pulse required for LGE also nulls the liver signal at the time of data acquisition (optimal TI time), so that NAV-gating, used for respiratory compensation, becomes impossible. The NAV-restore (3), which reinverts the region of the liver immediately after the initial inversion pulse, permits gating. However, pulmonary vein (PV) blood magnetization is also reinverted, and

A comparison of late gadolinium enhancement magnetic resonance imaging and left atrial endocardial voltage

Background Following catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF), late gadolinium enhancement magnetic resonance imaging (LGE MRI) may be able to visualise areas of fibrosis and therefore reduced endocardial voltage. Unlike previous studies describing qualitative visual comparisons, we have developed a new quantitative technique for comparison of left atrial (LA) endocardial voltage with 3D ...

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Left atrial late gadolinium enhancement and mitral regurgitation in subjects with atrial fibrillation

Background Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is used to evaluate fibrosis of the left atrium (LA) in subjects with atrial fibrillation (AF). LA fibrosis by LGE has been shown to correlate with LA volumes. However, within AF subjects, the association of mitral regurgitation (MR) with LA LGE is not well described. Pathological studies have demonstrated atrial fibrosis and tissue disorganization i...

Comparison of electroanatomic voltage mapping with late gadolinium enhancement CMR

Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with atrial remodeling, including atrial cellular pathology [1,2], left atrial enlargement [3], and low voltage on electroanatomic mapping (EAM)[4]. Recent studies have identified late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in AF subjects pre-PVI as novel evidence of LA remodeling [5]. One study compared voltage by EAM obtained prior to a pulmonary vein i...

MRI of the left atrium: predicting clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation is a significant public health burden, with clinically, epidemiologically and economically significant repercussions. In the last decade, catheter ablation has provided an improvement in morbidity and quality of life, significantly reducing long-term healthcare costs and avoiding recurrences compared with drug therapy. Despite recent progress in techniques, current catheter ...
